About Zahrah
Hi, I'm Zahrah
I’m a fine artist based in Bozeman, Montana. I moved here from Saudi Arabia in 2019 to create a life that felt true to me. I chose Montana because my mom lives in Butte, and I spent my first few months here living with her while figuring things out.
That’s when I picked up watercolor for the first time. I’d always loved drawing and painting—mostly with acrylic—but watercolor was something new. I started bringing my sketchbook to a little corner at Oro Fino Café in Butte and just painting whatever came to mind. Sometimes I’d post what I made on Facebook, not thinking much of it, but people were paying attention. One day, a local business reached out to collaborate with me—and that’s when it clicked: maybe I could do this for real.
In 2023, after graduating from Montana State University, I started The Art Shop. These days I mostly paint with watercolor, but I also love working with oil and acrylic. My style can be hard to pin down—some of it’s whimsical, some more realistic, and some a colorful mix of both. I’m inspired by Montana’s wildlife, everyday still life scenes, and the emotions we carry.
At the end of the day, I just love connecting with people—whether it’s making them smile with a whimsical Skiing Mouse or having a deep conversation about a piece that speaks to them.
